Cold Shoulder

So I've been giving my pawrents the cold shoulder. I think today will be the end of it, you pups can let me know.

Last night it rained. My pawrents were going out, without me, and wanted me to do my biz before they left.

In. The. Rain.

Needless to say, I was NOT impressed. Of course I couldn't concentrate to go when the rain was beating down on me! What were they thinking??

Anyway, they left me nonetheless and upon their return, I was not speaking to them.

They did look devastated. I almost felt sorry for them. Those sad human eyes, wondering why I wasn't coming for a snuggle on the couch. Such manipulators! They even offered up cookies, thinking that would make everything ok.

They just don't get it. So how long should I make them wait before it's all wags and kisses??

Let me know pups!

Wascally Wabbits, Canada Geese and the Joys of Running Free!

So last night during our late night walk, I encountered a rabbit! I almost didn't even notice him, since it was so dark out. But then we almost walked right into him! He took off across a church lawn...then stopped right in the middle. I guess he though he was safe. Hehe. He doesn't know me very well!

Too bad my human mom wasn't so accommodating! She wouldn't let go of my leash, but she did run with me onto the lawn to scare the bunny! I would have caught that wascally wabbit if I had the proper chance.

So this morning we got to go to Frenchman's Bay, which is a small little beach area near us, and they have these huge fields for running around. Well, I guess for humans to run around...dogs are supposed to stay on-leash. But it was early, and my human mom let me break the rules!

We played fetch with my West Paw Bow Wowza Ball and I even met a cool dog named Rain who zoomied around the field with me!

But the best part: chasing the Canada Geese!!! Ohhhh I love to chase! There were some geese at the other end of the field, and as soon as I was let off leash, I was off like a rocket! BOL! Those geese took off honking away so fast! BOL! Human mom didn't really like that so much, cause I ran so far so fast, she thought I wasn't going to come back. But I'm a good boy, and I did!

After though, Rain's human mom told us that we could have gotten a ticket for that! YIKES! Apparently, it's illegal to chase the geese...them being our national bird and all. Party poopers.

Pups, there's nothing like the freedom of running off-leash, so make sure you tell your pawrents to try to get you to an off-leash park this weekend and zoomie your little hearts out!!

What To Do When It's Raining

My buddy Pipo asked this question yesterday, as the remnants of Hurricane Dean are leaving a lot of cities with rainy weather.

Well, of course I told him to practice some new training skills, do some fun dog games...but then my human dad came home today with the BEST new toy (however frustrating it is for me)!!

Two words: Pen Light.

Miracle Dog: Dalmation Rescued After Four Days in Storm Drain

After four days of searching and digging for their dog, a West Virginia family has found their buried dog alive.

In heroic efforts, the dogs owner, Larry Thompson, never gave up hope that his dog Alex would be rescued. Alex went missing Thursday, and after an initial search, Thompson heard noises from a nearby storm drain where he found Alex had fallen in.

After four days of digging, where most would have given up, a man in tears finally rescues his best friend.

He was rushed to the veterinarian on a stretcher to be checked out. The vet said that Alex is dehydrated, but he is doing well.

Thompson said: “I would have gone to any extent to get him out. It was the humane thing to do. I just couldn’t leave him in there to die, to suffocate. I’m just so glad we kept digging. Now all I have to do is clean up this mess I’ve made of my yard.”
Good luck Alex with your recovery! Our prayers are with you and your awesome "pawrents"!!

Illegal DVD Sniffer Dogs Awarded Medals!

Two black Labradors Lucky and Flo pose for photographer after receiving medals from the domestic trade ministry before they ended a six-month assignment in Putrajaya, Monday, Aug. 20, 2007.

The world's first dogs trained to identify optical discs by the scent of their chemicals, Lucky and Flo were loaned to the Malaysian government in March by the Motion Picture Association, a U.S.-based watchdog.

These pawesome dogs helped find 1.6 million DVDs and other optical discs, three DVD replicating machines and 97 compact disc burners, worth $6 million.

Twenty-six people were arrested during the raids.

Two paws up for these amazing pups!

Midnight Run

Well my human used to be an avid runner. Sometimes, she would take me along. Lately, I hear her complain about work, whatever that is, and being too tired.

But last night, she put on my collar and leash, and what I though would be our late night pee break became a midnight run!

Not far, but we hit the local soccer fields (two giant fields side by side), and off we ran! I loved it! She had to tell me to slow down! BOL! SLOW DOWN! But you just told me to run!

Well, I hope there's more running in my future! It makes me sleep like a baby (which of course, my human likes, I don't wake her up at the crack of dawn!!).
