Woofstock - Wrap-up

There were dark clouds and early rain and we were worried Woofstock would be a washout! BUT no rain for the rest of the day!! But IT WAS HOT!!

Since we weren't sure what the weather would be like..we went early to avoid any chance of rain..and after being there for a few hours...all the pups (Simba, Denali, and Starr) including our human moms were hot, tired and ready to leave the INSANE crowds. So I didn't stay for the Mr. Canine Canada competition. :o(

Mr. Canine Canada? Maybe next year.

Denali and Starr

That's ok..we got some pawesome treats, met LOTS of dogs and had a good time!

We saw LOTS of Boston Terriers, Great Danes, Min Pins, Labs and Chihuahuas!!

Guess how many Manchesters I saw??!! 2!!! BOL and one was my pal Rocco!! His humans had a booth at Woofstock, selling their pawesome hand-sculpted coats and collars!! (Denali and I got a MODRuff collar today!! They are pawesome!!!!)

HM is back and I got some great loot!!

So, I survived alone with HD...it wasn't so bad..he took me to the park, and we hung out and watched TV a lot. He even let me sleep in the bed with him in the mornings!

I was sooo happy when HM came home though!! What did I get?

A cool New York Loofa dog that looks like the statue of Liberty. That was from my pals Gibbon and Mia who my mom visited in NYC.

HM and Molly's human Jennifer with Gibbon and Mia

I also got a cool treat ball from Molly's human who was also in NYC for the weekend fun.

All the Human mums in front of Trixie and Peanut

HM went to Trixie and Peanut in lower Manhattan and brought home a new Planet Dog toy, some FURBULOUS treats (sweet potato wrapped in bacon!!! WOWEE)

So it was a great trip for me! er...for her..BOL!

Next time though, I really want to go, so I can have some fun play time with Gibbon and Mia too!!

Dog Eared Book Review: The Art of Racing in the Rain

HM's review:
What can I say? This book was FANTASTIC!!

Heart warming, heart wrenching, tragic and triumphant! It keeps you rooting for Enzo and his human Denny as they go through trials and tribulations in their life. Sweet Enzo, who believes he'll be reincarnated as a man, is steady preparing himself, watching his human closely, taking in all aspects of his life so he too can be a good man.

We watch through Enzo's eyes Denny's life, testing him, as a race car driver, husband and father through the trying times that test his mettle. Enzo watching, wanting to help, but feeling trapped in his dog body that lacks human communication. But he finds a way to comfort, listen and be a source of strength for his humans when needed.

Metaphors on driving as they relate to life flood the pages and fill you with emotion as the story unravels. It inevitably makes you think of your own dog and what fills their mind as you go through your daily grind. What would they share with you?

I highly recommend this book to add to your collection. Garth Stein writes so fluidly and creates characters worth remembering.
