My Fave Five: Classic Cartoon Dogs

My buddy Finn got me thinking...he posted about the top ten fictional dogs of all time, and then posted his own. As I thought of mine..I realized they were mostly all classic cartoon dogs. Human mom has exposed me to some fine TV watching!

So here are my Fave Five Classic Cartoon Dogs:

Dino: The Flintstones dog, who every day ran over Fred when he arrived home from work. (Just like most of us do!!) He was ever watchful over Pebbles and always added great comic relief!

Muttley: First appearing in Hanna-Barbara's Wacky Races, Muttley was the sneaky sidekick of Dirk Dasterdly. While quiet on words, Muttley had that trademark laugh when the plotting to cheat during a race.

Hong Kong Phooey: "As fast as he can be!". Classic take on bumbling doggy janitor by day, and kung-fu butt kickin' crime fighter by night!

Scrappy Doo: "Puppy Power!!" The mighty mite cousin to everypup's beloved Scooby-Doo, Scrappy came onto the later shows with his bravado and skill to offset Scoob's scaredy-cat attitude. I love Scrappy.

I think of all, my top fave has to be...
Sam the Sheepdog: Brought on as a running gag with the Looney Tunes, Sam the Sheepdog would clock in on the fields, as would Ralph (aka Wyle E. Coyote). Off to work, Sam watching over the flock, and Ralph forever trying to lure one of the sheep into his clutches. But everytime, poor Ralph's plot was foiled by Sam, who just happened to be at the right place at the right time with little effort put in. Fritz is the POP DOG of the week!

Check out this weeks POP DOG, (to the right), my buddy Fritz.

He is a rescue with a heart of a champion! He had to endure a scary situation this week. Fritz has some severe skin allergies, and after a trip to the vet, he was accidentally given an overdose of his medication, and we nearly lost our dear friend.

But he's a fighter! And I'm happy to say he's getting back to his usual self. Way to go Fritz!!

Fun Times at TOTO!

So today I was invited to a doggie BBQ that my pal Jessie was hosting from Dog Paddling Adventures. It was located at a pawesome dog park two cities over from me in Mississauga, ON. Totoredeca Dog Park. 4 acres of fully fenced in fun!!

I arrive with Denali and Starr and it was non-stop doggie madness! They had a pool area, a shady wooded area for great tree sniffing, a small dog park for the little guys to peacefully romp around without getting trampled and an agility field!

Did I mention BBQ??!! Mmmmmm...so many kids..but not too many dropped any goodies for us. Believe me, I tried. But my human did break me off a little piece of hot dog! YUM!

On top of all that, I met one of my Facebook/Dogbook pals, Rocco!!! Did I mention he is also a Manchester Terrier!! It was like looking in a mirror!! We romped, and our humans oooohhhed and aahhhhed over us! Talk about embarrassing!

Anyway, it was tonnes of fun, and I'm pretty pooped. Enjoy some of the pics we took today!

Tragedy! Animal Control Officer Under Investigation!

You remember the story I posted about two weeks ago, where a Rotweiller was rescued by a Toronto Humane Society Investigator.

One week after rescuing Cyrus from a sweltering car, Agent Tre Smith has been disciplined by the Ontario SPCA for doing his job. The Ontario SPCA suspended his agent's license pending an internal review. He can still work at the Humane Society, but can not investigate animal cruelty cases.

Smith isn't taking the decision lightly. "I'm shocked and stunned and deeply saddened," he said.

After rescuing Cyrus, the dogs owner came out to check on his car and Agent Smith handcuffed him to the car until the police could arrive. In order to save Cyrus, he had to get him to the Humane Society's emergency services, so he left the dog's owner on the scene, handcuffed to the car.

That's where the trouble allegedly began. The dog's owner claims he was attacked by a few passerbys, who had witnessed Cyrus's rescue, as he waited for the police to arrive.

Breakthrough!!

So my human was home early today, and she took me out for a walk and romp in the football field behind our building.

I didn't realize she brought my little yellow frisbee with her for some action! Well I had a breakthrough! She's been practicing little games and trying to get me to catch the frisbee in the air...and today I did it twice!!

She was so very proud of me! I just hope i remember to do it next time! :o) I'll be a Disc Dog before your know it!

Do you have a Dogfession to make??

Dogfessions is going to be the next big thing for dog owners to communicate on the web. This "pet" project was created for a fun way to confess things about your dog (or have your dog confess) to other dog owners and share funny moments only another dog owner could understand.

How does it work??

You create a fun postcard and send it in to Dogfessions. They will then post it on the website for all to see.

A few key points to making your dogfession:
Be honest.
Keep it simple.
Have fun with it!

And remember, Dogfessions are anonymous! (well, unless I recognize your photo! BOL!)
